Clients often will fall for this trick: they award work to the firm with the lowest estimate of effort. It’s understandable, because most projects have deadlines before they have specs. What typically happens is that the lowball estimate gets the job, but that job in almost all cases takes much longer to complete than estimated. At that point, it is too late for the customer to seek alternatives. We never, ever do this.
Why? Because we will not lie to our customers. We may lose some business to lowball estimates, but we refuse to knowingly misrepresent the facts as we understand them concerning your project.
